SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the hierarchical authority of the head of the service, the person holding the position practices their profession with a clientele having physical health issues (18-100 years old). They evaluate functional abilities, make recommendations regarding safety, positioning, and how to perform AVQ/AVD, all with the goal of promoting optimal autonomy.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Section A. Client Care

  • Evaluate how physical deficiency, cognitive difficulties, and sensory-motor difficulties affect the user's daily and domestic activities
  • Evaluate daily and/or domestic activities and determine safety and user self-care issues, then make recommendations based on the analysis of the results
  • Evaluate and intervene on environmental elements that can cause/maintain wounds and on how to perform activities
  • Intervene to develop deficient abilities or teach compensatory strategies for performing AVQ and AVD
  • Participate in the decision to use restraint or alternative measures, respecting local policy
  • Manufacture or recommend orthoses, assistive devices, or other necessary adaptations and guide the user in their use
  • Ensure service continuity by directing the client to appropriate resources for their condition and situation
  • Provide information to users, families, other team members, and sometimes external organizations
  • Actively participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to the continuous flow of useful information for intervention with the user
  • Section B. Non-Clinical Tasks
  • Document practice in accordance with the professional standards of occupational therapy and those of the establishment
  • Complete statistics resulting from interventions in accordance with the normative framework and respect deadlines
  • Contribute to the clinical training of interns
  • Actively participate in service activities (meetings, visual stations, committees...)
  • Maintain and develop knowledge related to the field of intervention
  • Report all risk situations and events via health-safety reports or AH223
  • Provide elements to support service personnel evaluations
  • Perform any other related tasks as requested by the immediate supervisor

Requirements
