Summary

The Engineering Manager - HyService is responsible for leading the regional engineering organization and ensuring the delivery of solid, competitive, and customer-need-focused technical solutions for the entire service offerings. The person in this role promotes engineering excellence, from identifying business opportunities to supporting project execution, while ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and operational efficiency.

Leadership and Management of the Engineering Team

  • Lead, develop, and mobilize the HyService engineering team in the region.
  • Provide functional leadership to the engineers and engineering staff of the team.
  • Build a highly performing and collaborative engineering organization in line with regional and global standards.

Technical Solution Development

  • Define technical scopes, objectives, and deliverables based on customer requirements and business objectives.
  • Ensure that engineering solutions comply with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Contribute to the development of optimized, customer-need-focused service solutions.

Support for Offers and Projects (OTO / OTC)

  • Estimate, plan, and execute engineering activities during the Offer-to-Order (OTO) and Order-to-Cash (OTC) phases.
  • Implement efficient and standardized engineering processes during the proposal preparation phase.
  • Support service managers and submission teams in developing robust and competitive technical proposals.

Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement of processes, tools, and engineering methodologies.
  • Promote best practices and the sharing of lessons learned, particularly from non-conformance reports (NCR).
  • Ensure the production of complete, high-quality technical documentation in line with established standards.

Interfunctional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with field service, project management, sales, procurement, and service teams to ensure effective project execution.
  • Develop and maintain a strong regional collaboration network.
  • Support alignment with corporate engineering standards and regional service strategies.

Leadership Scope

  • Lead multidisciplinary regional HyService engineering teams, including turbines, generators, automation, and power plant auxiliary systems (BOP).
  • Provide functional leadership to various engineering interfaces.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering. Experience in the service sector or modernization of hydroelectric plants is a significant asset.
  • 8 to 12 years of relevant experience in application or service engineering within an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or project-focused environment, including several years in a management role.
  • Proficiency in French and English to effectively interact at all levels of the organization, both in Quebec and outside Quebec.
  • Strong leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to mobilize, manage, and lead multidisciplinary teams. Confirmed experience in functional leadership in a context promoting accountability and performance.
  • Demonstrated experience in transforming customer needs into competitive and tailored technical solutions, while supporting OTO and OTC phases through rigorous scope, effort, and risk assessment.
  • Excellent mastery of engineering governance practices, including compliance with health and safety, regulatory, and contractual requirements, production of high-quality technical documentation, and integration of lessons learned and non-conformance reports (NCR).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with customers and multidisciplinary teams (submissions, project management, field services, and sales), including priority management and resource planning.
  • Excellent English proficiency, both oral and written. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Experience with SAP and CAD tools is an asset.
  • Availability to travel as needed by the company.
