Subject Description I am seeking a candidate (for a master thesis) to work on the design and validation of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) systems for Industry 5.0. IoT has been at the heart of Industry 4.0, the use of sensors and actuators indeed helped improve the efficiency of production/supply chains and ease their maintenance. Industry 5.0, on the other hand, is all about the place humans occupy in manufacturing plants and how to make such environments safe for humans. As a result, the design and validation of the IoT part of such systems should account for the unpredictability that stems from the human involvement in the processes. The goal of this project is to identify the challenges that the human involvement represents for the design and validation of IIoT systems, and propose automated solutions to tackle them.
