As a QA Automation Engineer Intern, you will contribute to the quality and reliability of our retail systems by designing, developing, and maintaining automated tests for critical applications and business processes. You will use AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code to accelerate the development of test automation, improve test coverage, and enhance delivery efficiency.
You will work closely with QA specialists, developers, business analysts, product owners, and DevOps teams to validate application features, integrations, data flows, and regression scenarios. This internship will provide you with hands-on experience in quality engineering, test automation, continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), defect analysis, and AI-assisted software engineering in a retail IT environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for retail systems, business processes, and application integrations.
- Use GitHub Copilot and Claude Code to accelerate the creation, optimization, and maintenance of automated test scripts.
- Support application feature validation, regression scenarios, end-to-end business processes, API validation, data validation, and system integrations.
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and faster feedback.
- Collaborate with QA specialists, developers, business analysts, and product owners to identify, reproduce, and fix software defects.
- Analyze test results, investigate failures, and document findings clearly, with evidence and recommended next steps.
- Participate in regression, functional, smoke, integration, and end-to-end testing activities.
- Contribute to the improvement of test automation frameworks, standards, reusable components, and best practices.
- Document test scenarios, automation approaches, test data requirements, and lessons learned.
- Continuously explore new AI tools and quality engineering practices to improve test efficiency, coverage, and maintainability.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or a related field.
- Basic programming knowledge (JavaScript, Vue.js, PHP, Java, Python, or similar languages).
- Interest in software quality assurance, test automation, and modern development practices.
- Understanding of software development life cycles (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and DevOps concepts.
- Familiarity with Git version control system.
- Experience with automated testing tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Postman, SpecFlow, or similar tools is a plus.
- Interest in retail systems, business process testing, system integrations, and data validation is a plus.
- Curiosity about AI-assisted software development tools, including GitHub Copilot and Claude Code.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to learn new technologies and business processes.
- Bilingualism (French and English) is considered an asset.
