- Technician Service Position Summary:
- Ensure the maintenance of HVAC equipment:
- Repair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiring.
- Independent diagnostics, troubleshooting, piping, and brazing of Category I, II, and III equipment at intermediate and advanced levels.
- Responsibilities specific to the equipment include, without limitation, the following (Category I):
- + Single and double water-cooled centrifugal chillers up to 200-2,700 tons
- + Screw chillers up to 400 tons
- + Air-cooled chillers up to 530 tons
- + Templifier screw centrifugal heat pumps
+ Magnetic drive chillers from 100 to 700 tons.
Overview of Essential Job Tasks and Responsibilities. Other tasks may be assigned:
- Warranty Service: Independently inspect and test systems to verify the functionality of all Category I, II, and III equipment.
- Commissioning: Verify the functionality of new Category I, II, and III equipment. Inform customers about the proper use of the equipment, maintenance schedule, and user manual.
- Refurbishment and Modernization: Lead the refurbishment and modernization of a Category I, II, and III unit. Lead Level I and II technicians by demonstrating the necessary steps. Perform refurbishment of centrifugal equipment.
- Jobsite Safety: Wear personal protective equipment while performing service tasks. Conduct jobsite hazard assessments before starting service. Adhere to Daikin Applied and customer safety policies, as well as OSHA directives.
- Customer Service: Demonstrate professionalism in appearance and verbal and written communication. Interact with the customer by providing service status reports before, during, and after each call. Explain technical information to both informed and uninformed audiences.
- Sales Support: Communicate potential sales opportunities to sales personnel through the technician quote process. Identify and present minor repair opportunities directly to the customer.
- Lead Technician Training: Responsible for mentoring Level I and II service technicians and providing hands-on training related to Category I, II, and III equipment.
- Performance Documentation: Record and bill, inventory, time sheets, technician quote reports, product quality reports, and articles as needed.
- Computer Usage: Enter basic data and navigate email, internet, and word processing programs. Download programs into Category I-II equipment and microcontrollers. Analyze chiller trend data to ensure optimal performance.
- Compliance: Ensure that standards, policies, procedures, and clean workplace maintenance are always respected.
- Required Skills:
To succeed in this role, the individual must be able to perform each essential task satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. - Associate degree or equivalent from a technical and professional school with certification in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, along with five (5) years of relevant experience in a position with increasing responsibilities, or seven (7) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver's license, G 1 gas license required, EPA-approved universal technician certification, and other licenses as needed.
