Project Manager for Dams

Who are we looking for?

GHD is looking for a Project Engineer for Dams (Structure, Hydrotechnical or Geotechnical) for its team in Quebec, with excellent expertise in hydrology and applied hydraulics for hydroelectric installations. Experience with dams is an important asset, and prior experience with Hydro-Quebec or other clients in the hydroelectric sector is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment;
• Conduct technical analyses for the design of hydraulic structures and dams;
• Participate in the inspection of dams;
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with regulations;
• Participate in the preparation of proposals, execution, and implementation of projects in safety studies and dam rehabilitation, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards;
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met;
• Ensure adherence to project schedules and budgets, control expenses, and achieve financial objectives;
• Develop and implement strategic plans for project execution, in line with the company's goals and objectives;
• Prepare reports and comprehensive documentation for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.

What sets you apart

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering;
• A master's degree in one of the disciplines of structure, geotechnical, or hydrotechnical is an asset;
• Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec (or in the process of becoming one);
• Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in hydraulic dam project management, with at least 10 years in the Civil sector. Experience on Hydro-Quebec or another public service company project would be an asset;
• Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal relationship, and organizational skills. Proficiency in project management software and tools;
• GHD being an international company present worldwide and employing thousands of employees serving national and international clients, the ability to provide services in French and English is essential;
• Good knowledge of applicable calculation methods;
• Autonomy, initiative, and ability to work in teams;
• Excellent teamwork skills in multidisciplinary teams;
• Short-term mobility for regional travel (inspections and occasional site visits).
