- Job Responsibilities
The incumbent is responsible for all activities related to the maintenance of infrastructure, buildings, and auxiliary systems. Specifically, the mandate of the infrastructure and buildings specialist includes the following challenges:
- Responsible for building maintenance (floors, roofs, windows, seasonal shelters, garage doors & fire doors, locks, keys, handles, concierge, water dispensers & cafeteria appliances, etc.);
- Responsible for auxiliary systems (building plumbing and basins, sprinkler system, heating & ventilation, palletizers, generator, loading docks, etc.);
- Responsible for peripheral equipment (boilers and steam network, cooling system - chiller & water tower, compressors and compressed air network, hot water system, water treatment system & osmosis, electrical substations);
- Responsible for the maintenance of the mobile equipment fleet (forklifts, pallet jacks, platform lifts & scaffolding, trucks);
- Responsible for the maintenance of lifting systems (bridges, cranes, masts, derricks) and common safety equipment (ladders, escalators, lifelines & roof anchors, etc.);
- Responsible for the maintenance of the grounds (lawn mowing) and parking lots (snow removal);
- Responsible for the establishment of contracts with contractors and their renewal;
- Responsible for the management of contractors supporting the maintenance of infrastructure and buildings;
- Responsible for coordinating visits from our insurance company representatives;
- Responsible for taking actions in line with the recommendations of these representatives;
- Participates in system audits and legal compliance audits and takes charge of the actions resulting from these audits;
- Manages the fire and intrusion alarm system;
- Supports the Health and Safety Committee (management of energies, purchase and maintenance of lock register, secure management of emergency exits);
- Supports and participates in the cost reduction program and energy savings program;
- Identifies priorities related to infrastructure and buildings for the preparation of the annual maintenance budget;
- Participates in the need for the preparation and execution of the modernization plan;
- Participates in the selection, qualification, and layout of new peripheral equipment and auxiliary systems in the plant;
- Manages diagnostics during failures of peripheral equipment or auxiliary systems supported by our contractors;
- Manages the implementation of any corrective action that involves a change to the original concept of peripheral equipment or auxiliary system with the manufacturer if needed (ADC, DME, DDC);
- Supports the procurement team at the technical requirement level in exchanges with suppliers and the tracking of warranties on components;
- May be called to work during the two planned shutdowns of the plant;
- May occasionally be called to work outside normal business hours to respond to emergencies related to the aforementioned systems;
- Is the plant representative for the management of the Cognibox system (training of our contractors);
- Performs all other related tasks.
- Job Requirements
- The selected candidate must hold:
- DEC or AEC in Building Engineering or any other relevant diploma in a field related to building management and/or mechanical and energy equipment management in a building.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience preferably in the manufacturing sector or in building management.
*Any equivalent or higher diploma in a relevant field to the job requirements will also be considered.*
- Certification in Fixed Machine Mechanics (MMF) is an asset.
- Builder's license is an asset.
