Bilingual Collections Agent

Job Overview

We're looking for people to work at TCR as a Debt Counselor. In this position, you will provide debt collection services for a variety of clients and portfolios, helping Canadians rebuild their credit. Please note that while this is a work-from-home/remote position, you must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the TCR office in Laval, QC, to pick up and return assigned equipment during your employment.

Responsibilities

• Contact consumers by telephone to negotiate payments on delinquent accounts
• Assist clients by proposing solutions to meet financial goals such as debt management
• Analyze and assess the consumer's financial situation, credit, and repayment capacity
• Perform initial screening using online tools and in-house systems
• Follow regulations and guidelines according to provincial and federal laws and client-specific guidelines
• Negotiate professionally and respectfully with the consumer and explore sources of funds to determine the best possible arrangement
• Complete credit and loan disclosures
• Document the details of each call clearly and concisely
• Request statements on delinquent accounts and refer irreconcilable accounts for legal action
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Fully Bilingual in English and French
• Experience in a call center environment is an asset
• Good communication skills - both verbal and written
• Good listening skills
• Good negotiation skills
• A compassionate and empathetic approach
• Ability to maintain an objective/neutral stance even when speaking with customers in emotional/difficult situations
• Good computer and office software skills
• Ability to achieve performance goals
• Ability to work rotating shifts (evenings and/or weekends)
