Project Manager - Engineering Effectiveness
TechnologyDescription
Your team's dynamic:
The Engineering Effectiveness group is responsible for enabling efficient, predictable, and high-quality execution across Genetec's engineering organization. The team focuses on improving engineering workflows, tools, and project management practices to support the development of complex software solutions.
As a Project Manager, you will join the Program Management Office (PMO), a centralized team of project managers supporting engineering product groups. You will oversee cross-functional software initiatives, coordinating contributors across engineering, quality assurance, product management, documentation, support, training, and other stakeholder groups to ensure alignment, visibility, and successful project execution.
You will be given coaching and guidance to succeed and excel at your work by a team of project managers who are very familiar with the Genetec ecosystem and ways of working. Onboarding is well organized, offering training about our products as well as training on processes used, such as Kanban. This is a highly supportive group that thrives on everyone's success.
Why this role matters
Software teams that operate in silos miss dependencies, misalign timelines, and surface problems too late. This role exists to prevent that.
You are the connective tissue between software engineering, quality assurance, product management, documentation, support, training, and stakeholder communication — ensuring that complex software initiatives move from concept to completion with clarity, accountability, and efficiency.
Who are you:
You are an organized, analytical, and rigorous project management professional who thrives in a software development environment.
You have a good understanding of software development processes, including Kanban, code reviews, quality assurance, regression testing, work item management, and inter-team coordination to track project progress, identify issues, and coordinate the execution of cross-functional projects.
A day in your life
- Track software development initiatives from planning and analysis to implementation, validation, and release preparation
- Support planning activities by ensuring rigorous tracking of inputs, decisions, deliverables, and timelines
- Maintain structured project documentation, including plans, dashboards, decision logs, action tracking, and status information
- Map dependencies between software development, quality assurance, product management, documentation, support, and training teams, and proactively identify any misalignment
- Identify, track, and communicate project risks; ensure technical leads define mitigation plans while maintaining visibility on potential timeline and dependency impacts
- Collaborate with developers, QA specialists, and team leads to translate technical updates into actionable project information
- Monitor project health using indicators such as Kanban flow metrics, quality indicators, work item status, and other operational metrics
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, project tracking practices, and coordination mechanisms
Communication and tracking
- Facilitate communication between engineering, quality assurance, product management, documentation, support, training, and other stakeholder teams
- Ensure clear understanding of scope, progress, risks, dependencies, obstacles, and decisions across ongoing projects
- Prepare concise and accurate updates for stakeholders
- Maintain dashboards reflecting project progress, active risks, dependencies, and quality indicators
- Provide managers and executives with structured information to facilitate decision-making
What makes you an excellent candidate
- 2 to 5 years of experience in project management or software project coordination
- Good understanding of software development processes and quality assurance cycles
- Excellent analytical and communication skills

- Ability to influence and mobilize cross-functional teams without direct hierarchical authority
- Proficiency in both French and English, both spoken and written (this position requires interactions with our international colleagues and clients)
A plus if you have
- Experience in software development or quality assurance
- Experience with on-premises or client-server software products
- Knowledge of source code management concepts, including Git, build processes, merges, and branching strategies
- Experience in improving project dashboards, reporting practices, work item quality, or project management standards
