Eaton's Electrical Engineering Services and Systems division is currently seeking a motivated Senior Software Developer in C++ for its team. This role is based at our Eaton Americas Innovation Center in Brossard (Québec) and offers hybrid work opportunities, as well as benefits from day one.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $92,000 - $115,000.

As a member of a multidisciplinary development team, the Senior Software Developer will participate in the design and development of software solutions in the field of analysis and modeling of electricity distribution networks and renewable energy systems.
The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for maintaining and improving the various components of the CYMCAP desktop application in C++. They will bring strong technical expertise and a modern software development approach. The Senior Software Developer will also contribute innovative modernization initiatives aimed at improving existing functionality, facilitating future development, and reducing technical debt.
Essential Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain C++ source code for our solutions in an efficient, reusable, and reliable manner.
- Coordinate development initiatives within small teams.
- Coordinate all stages of the development lifecycle in collaboration with the project manager.
- Conduct thorough and high-quality pull request reviews.
- Evaluate new technologies and development tools and stay up to date with modern C++ practices and capabilities.
- Act as a mentor for junior developers and interns.
- Participate in the development of new product roadmap features.
- Troubleshoot defects and contribute to the evolution of existing CYMCAP functionality.
- Participate in architecture modernization initiatives, including microservices-based environments leveraging gRPC.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in modern C++ software development.
- Experience with C++17 and/or C++20.
- Experience with the Standard Template Library (STL) and object-oriented programming principles.
- Fluency in English and French (working proficiency in both languages). Fluency in French and English is required for this position to communicate with colleagues, customers, and partners located inside and outside of Québec, as well as to understand technical documentation within our industry.
Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing software in Windows environments using the MSVC compiler.
- Experience with GitHub, JIRA, or equivalent tools.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio.
- Experience with Conan2 for C++ package management and CMake.
- Experience with CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions.
