DESCRIPTION

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

We are currently seeking a DCEO Technical Infrastructure Project Manager (TIPM) to support our data centers in the YUL cluster (Montreal, QC). The TIPM is responsible for managing small-to-medium operational improvement projects from planning to completion within operational data centers. This role serves as the dedicated project delivery resource for the YUL cluster, handling projects that fall outside the scope of the Critical Projects Implementation (CPI) team but require dedicated project management beyond Facility Manager bandwidth.

The successful candidate will be the focal point for project coordination across YUL sites, ensuring that operational improvements are planned, scoped, budgeted, executed, and documented efficiently. They will obtain and track quotes for all necessary costs, coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders, and document project results for future implementation at other facilities.

Key job responsibilities

Project Management: Manage small-to-medium infrastructure and operational improvement projects from planning to completion across YUL Availability Zones (YUL50AZ, YUL51AZ, YUL55AZ)

Intake & Budgeting: Receive project requests from various groups (Facility Managers, Chief Engineers, regional teams), analyze scope and feasibility, obtain pricing/quotes, and submit projects into the system for yearly budget approval

Scoping & Budgeting: Obtain and track quotes for all project costs; develop project plans with clear scope, timeline, budget, and resource requirements

Vendor Coordination: Manage vendor relationships, obtain bids, coordinate on-site work, and ensure quality delivery

Stakeholder Management: Work closely with Facility Managers, Chief Engineers, and EOTs to identify project needs, communicate progress, and remove blockers

Documentation: Document project results, lessons learned, and develop standard procedures for future implementation at other facilities

Site Walks & Inspections: Conduct regular site walks to identify operational improvement opportunities and monitor active project progress

Safety: Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendors and Amazon staff during project execution; maintain a strong safety-first mindset

Reporting: Provide regular project status updates to the Cluster Manager; flag risks and escalate issues proactively

Collaboration: Partner with CPI, Commissioning, Procurement, and Construction teams on project handoffs and shared scope boundaries

Continuous Improvement: Identify process improvements and propose new projects that enhance site reliability, efficiency, or safety A day in the life A typical day involves site walks to assess project progress, reviewing vendor proposals and technical documentation, coordinating with Facility Managers on upcoming work, updating project trackers, and meeting with stakeholders to resolve blockers. You'll balance multiple concurrent projects across YUL sites, ranging from minor facility upgrades to equipment replacements, always maintaining clear communication with the cluster leadership team.
