An interesting opportunity for a Financial Controller has arisen in our Montreal facilities. The Financial Controller will have overall accountability for the integrity of the financial results of the Rolls-Royce Canada Limited statutory legal entity and will ensure the operation of a robust financial control environment.
The Financial Controller will provide financial leadership, working in close collaboration with colleagues from other functional areas to proactively drive business performance and influence strategic direction. The Financial Controller is also accountable for the effectiveness of the Commercial, Tax, Legal and Indirect Purchasing functions and will play a key role in IT and export control activities.
The Financial Controller will report to the President of Rolls-Royce Canada and functionally to the Aviation Business Chief Financial Partner. The Financial Controller will also sit on the Board of Directors of Rolls-Royce Canada.
You will be required to be available to work at least 3 days per week at the Lachine facility to support training, operational efficiency and inter-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
- Actively and credibly contribute to the executive team, creating value by improving the quality of decisions and ensuring that the chosen business strategies generate maximum financial return.
- Take responsibility for the financial accounting of all Rolls-Royce Canada's operational units, governance and integrity of internal and external financial reports, and ensure compliance with company policies and external accounting standards. This includes the analysis of results and variances, staffing, internal and external audits, and ad-hoc analyses.
- Take responsibility for the planning, budgeting and forecasting processes in accordance with company requirements. (Five-year planning, quarterly reports, cost rate calculations and related analyses, determination of annual cost center budgets)
- Ensure the establishment of a robust financial control environment to protect Rolls-Royce Canada's assets.
- Regularly review financial performance against plans and latest forecasts, in collaboration with the executive team, to analyze financial variances and recommend corrective measures.
- Apply the Board of Directors' delegated powers, risk management and internal control standards to transactional processes.
- Proactively identify risks and issues that may impact the financial statements.
- Contribute to the resolution of accounting questions and issues raised by internal and external auditors.
- Ensure the implementation of changes to the compliance framework, taxation, regulation and transfer pricing requirements.
- Manage the capital planning process, including the review and buyback of investment plans, the establishment and/or validation of appropriate profitability analyses and the verification of assets and post-implementation reviews (PIRs) of plans, where applicable.
- Manage foreign exchange risk exposure - minimize the impact of currency fluctuations on profitability, cash flow and company competitiveness by following the Group's hedging strategy.
- Take responsibility for the development of financial systems and structural changes aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of reporting.
- Develop, manage and lead the team.
Qualifications
- CPA designation or equivalent required
- 8 to 12 years of experience in financial accounting in a manufacturing environment.
- Languages: Proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written
- Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
Skills
- Strong experience in financial planning, forecasting, cost control and reporting.
- Experience in management accounting and financial accounting at a senior level.
- Experience in the establishment and maintenance of a robust financial control environment.
- Strong experience in financial close procedures.
- Experience in managing relationships with high-level stakeholders (internal and external).
- Strong experience in business performance improvement.
