Description
The person holding this position analyzes, accounts for, and verifies financial and budgetary transactions while ensuring compliance with municipal tax regulations. They prepare financial statements and produce various reports. They maintain the computerized management systems and support users.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the City's and the pension plan's financial statements according to the applicable standards;
- Prepare the City's and the pension plan's verification file and respond to auditors' requests;
- Perform financial analyses and reconciliations;
- Verify certain transactions performed by the Finance Department staff and implement the required corrective measures;
- Apply the budget control and tracking regulation and perform the required follow-ups and reports;
- Accompany managers in budgetary follow-ups and controls;
- Account for accounting and budgetary transactions;
- Handle certain ad-hoc files as needed;
- Perform billing and collection follow-up;
- Participate in the implementation of new computer solutions;
- Ensure the follow-up of contracts under the responsibility of the Finance Department;
- Participate in the complete budgetary process and perform budgetary consolidation;
- Produce and submit government reports, such as sales tax reports, statistics, and surveys;
- Participate in process improvement;
- Collaborate with the entire staff to achieve organizational success based on the City's values and objectives.

Requirements
- Hold a college diploma (DEC) in accounting and management or an equivalent recognized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of Quebec;
- Hold a university certificate in accounting, an asset;
- Possess a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience for the position;
- Thorough knowledge of the complete accounting cycle;
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Excel, specifically);
- Good knowledge and understanding of municipal tax laws and regulations;
- Good knowledge of French;
- Functional knowledge of English.
