Senior Analyst, Consolidation and Accounting Standards

In this role, you will play a crucial part in the integrity, reliability, and quality of financial information, particularly through your involvement in consolidation activities, special projects, and continuous improvement initiatives for accounting and financial processes.

In collaboration with accounting and actuarial teams, you will implement and maintain solutions to meet business needs, particularly in the context of consolidation activities and financial transformation initiatives. You will also act as an advisor for complex accounting issues and contribute to the optimization of financial practices.

Main Responsibilities

Accounting Standards

  • Maintain continuous monitoring of developments related to IFRS and NCECF standards and evaluate their potential impacts;
  • Analyze, interpret, and document the requirements of new accounting standards, including the definition of accounting positions and adopted treatments;
  • Participate in the drafting of technical memorandums, accounting policies, and reference documents intended for internal and external stakeholders;
  • Serve as a resource person for accounting teams on complex technical issues.

Consolidation

  • Collaborate on the preparation of consolidated financial statements and the production of financial analyses and reports for management;
  • Participate in the preparation and review of consolidation and elimination entries;
  • Ensure the integrity, quality, and consistency of produced financial data;
  • Coordinate and support annual audit work on consolidated financial statements.

Special Projects

  • Participate in various special projects related to finance, accounting, consolidation, and organizational transformation;
  • Conduct financial analyses, ad-hoc studies, and recommendations at the request of senior management.

Process Improvement

  • Participate in the definition, documentation, and optimization of accounting and financial processes;
  • Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and operational efficiency improvement;
  • Contribute to the implementation and strengthening of internal controls related to financial information production;
  • Participate in the implementation and improvement of financial systems, tracking tools, and technological solutions supporting accounting operations;
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure the harmonization of practices and the adoption of best business practices.

Taxation

  • Participate in the preparation or review of Canadian company tax filings;
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors and internal stakeholders on tax obligations and projects with tax implications;
  • Contribute to the analysis of tax impacts of certain transactions or strategic initiatives.

Experience / Education

  • CPA designation or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience;
  • Experience in accounting firm (an asset);
  • Extensive experience in consolidation;
  • Excellent knowledge of IFRS and NCECF standards;
  • Experience with IFRS9 and IFRS17 (a significant asset);
  • Knowledge of reinsurance or personal insurance (an asset);
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel;
  • Knowledge of Oracle Financials (an asset);
  • Demonstrated capabilities in business process and system improvement for a finance and accounting service;
  • Knowledge of trends and best practices in financial, accounting, and tax management.
