Salary: $27.75 to $37.04 per hour
Additional Information: Expected start date: August 24, 2026.
Under the responsibility of the head of the accounting operations team, the payroll technician is responsible for managing the complete payroll cycle and the administration of social benefits in a multi-site environment, optimizing and evolving payroll processes for employees.
As an expert, you ensure accuracy, legal compliance, and operational efficiency.
You will be responsible for the administration of social benefits and support for global remuneration activities.
You will also act as a resource person for managers and employees regarding all payroll-related questions.
The payroll technician collaborates closely with the HR, Finance, and IT teams to ensure that payroll processes align with organizational goals.
IN THE FRAMEWORK OF YOUR JOB, YOU WILL HAVE TO
- Prepare, process, and verify payroll for hourly and salaried employees
- Perform the opening and closing of employee files
- Process changes to employee files in the payroll system regarding salary, address changes, bank information, job changes, etc.
- Ensure compliance with provincial, federal, and government laws (labor standards, taxation, mandatory deductions)
- Manage payroll adjustments: bonuses, overtime, allowances, vacations, taxable benefits, etc.
- Submit government remittances and produce regulatory documents (T4, Relevé 1, etc.)
- Administer social benefits programs and follow up with suppliers
- Maintain data integrity in payroll systems and perform regular audits
- Prepare various reports and analyses related to payroll
- Ensure that reports required by government authorities are completed on time and efficiently, including the preparation and issuance of employment statements when required
- Perform all other related tasks to deliver accurate payroll on time and provide the analyses required by management
- Support payroll and social benefits transformation initiatives, including process overhauls and technological improvements
- Ensure legislative vigilance and integrate changes into payroll practices
- Participate in cross-functional projects related to payroll, social benefits, or HR systems

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- College diploma (DEC) in accounting techniques or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing in a multi-site environment
- Very good knowledge of Employer D
- Experience and ease with payroll software, particularly during a new implementation, and specifically the MEDISOLUTION software.
- Mastery of French
- Excellent knowledge of laws and regulations regarding labor standards and payroll in Quebec
- Ease in both unionized and non-unionized environments
- Ability to manage a payroll volume of up to 300 employees
- Good knowledge of social benefits and global remuneration
- Comfortable with computer tools and excellent mastery of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Good knowledge of end-of-year fiscal processes (T4, Relevé 1, government reports)
