Description

We are building a relationship-focused bank for a modern world. We are looking for talented and passionate professionals who care about doing the right thing for our clients.

At CIBC, we bet on your strengths and ambitions to give you the power to act. Our team members have what they need to make a significant contribution and be recognized, both for who they are and what they do.

Job Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the effective management and development of a portfolio of cash management, credit, and investment products and services to increase the overall contribution to CIBC Private Wealth Management's profits. You will also support the global needs of clients in extended wealth management services, including investments, retirement planning, and succession planning.

*At CIBC, we offer you the best work environment to help you succeed in your role. To perform your tasks well, you will work full-time on-site. All details about your work arrangement (split of on-site and remote work days) will be discussed during your interview.*

How to Succeed

  • Relationship and Portfolio Management - Contribute to group activities with high-net-worth (HNW) clients by building a portfolio of HNW clients whose needs primarily focus on banking, credit, and investments. Ensure portfolio quality by continuously assessing risks and conducting in-depth financial analyses for all current or potential high-net-worth clients. Resolve extremely complex credit issues for clients by collaborating closely with credit specialists and Commercial Banking Services. Provide specialized services to key segments of the HNW market, including partners of major law, accounting, and medical firms, as well as private banking services to Wood Gundy HNW clients.
  • Planning and Advisory - Examine clients' portfolios and financial needs from a holistic perspective and identify opportunities to expand their product and service offerings. Regularly meet with clients to conduct portfolio reviews and present new product and service solutions. Understand wealth creation within small and medium-sized enterprises and the complexity of monetizing their value.
  • Business Development - Acquire new clients with sophisticated financial needs, influential individuals, and/or those requiring complex global financial solutions. Seek and develop untapped opportunities to promote CIBC Private Wealth Management within the high-net-worth client market. Represent CIBC on boards of directors, participate in charitable organizations, and maintain relationships in appropriate social networks. Actively play a role within teams responsible for large-scale operations targeting ultra-high-net-worth clients, particularly in the context of recommendations from Commercial Banking Services.
  • Continuously Update Your Knowledge and Skills - Demonstrate a willingness to stay informed about current events, the global economic and financial climate, trends, product evolution, legislative changes, etc., and proactively communicate these developments or changes to clients when they impact their financial situation. Engage with the community by participating in professional associations and contribute to the development of a professional network composed of target client segment members.

Your Attributes

  • You are a licensed professional. You have a current and valid license as a registered representative (RR) for the Investment Funds Dealer Permit of the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP) course, and continuing education leading to the designation of Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
  • You can demonstrate your experience in personal financial planning concepts, strong knowledge of all banking, investment, and credit products and services. You have experience in private banking, wealth management advisory services, or brokerage.
  • You have a well-established profile within the local business community. You are familiar with the diversity of the market and the needs of the local clientele. You enjoy playing an active role in community events, charitable organizations, and industry associations.
