Cost Accountant - Plant Controller

For the needs of its plant in St-Damase, Aliments Sofina Inc. is currently looking for a Cost Accountant. Reporting to the Senior Director – Finance, the incumbent is responsible for analyzing financial data and calculating costs. He supervises the cost analyst. The incumbent plays a leading role in the continuous improvement of financial and operational reports. In close collaboration with the Senior Director – Finance, the cost accountant ensures the accuracy of the financial statement closing process, the implementation of internal controls, the analysis and production of reports on major discrepancies.
Responsibilities
- Produces analyses and comments on financial results;
- Provides support for the end-of-period closing process;
- Identifies opportunities for improvement of various reports, processes, and systems to facilitate decision-making;
- Identifies and develops tools/reports that will allow the plant management to better understand and manage their departments;
- Prepares ad hoc analyses for various services (plant, engineering, finance, etc.);
- Provides various analyses to support operational and financial decisions (labor, efficiency, capital investment, etc.);
- Calculates product costs for submission requests;
- Develops various performance indicators and produces dashboards;
- Participates in the implementation of various action plans and performs the required follow-ups.
Qualifications
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a specialization in accounting or equivalent;
- Hold a professional title from the Order of CPAs of Quebec (an asset);
- Possess at least 5 years of experience in a similar role in the manufacturing sector (agro-food industry an asset);
- A different combination of education/experience judged equivalent may be considered;
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with various services;
- Results-oriented and team collaboration-focused;
- Excellent time management skills, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with often tight deadlines;
- Very good computer skills MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and other systems. Advanced Excel level;
- Knowledge of financial/operational database programs and ERP systems;
- Advanced level of English.
