We are looking to add a project cost controller for a major industrial project in the East End of Montreal.

The project cost controller plays a central role in the planning, tracking, analysis, and reporting of the financial performance of projects. They support project managers and multidisciplinary teams by ensuring the reliability of financial data, budget control, updating forecasts, and proactive analysis of deviations, risks, and opportunities. Through their recommendations and follow-up on corrective measures, they contribute to achieving the project's cost, schedule, and performance goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the cost control cycle throughout the project execution, by setting up projects/assignments, following budgets and schedules, within the project management system;
  • Ensure complete budgetary control of projects;
  • Supervise cost tracking (hours, expenses, committed costs) and budget updates;
  • Ensure overall project progress tracking in collaboration with discipline managers, integrating cost control;
  • Collaborate closely with project managers to ensure regular updates of project forecasts, as well as necessary provisions and risks;
  • Track and analyze productivity and progress of construction lots;
  • Evaluate change requests, analyze their impact on project objectives, and communicate to stakeholders;
  • Prepare executive summaries, dashboards, and performance indicators to provide timely updates on performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the same or similar position;
  • Accreditation as an Accredited Construction Economist (ECA) or Certified Construction Estimator (ECC) required or being a member of the OIQ, an asset;
  • Strong skills in cost analysis and budget management;
  • Excellent mastery of estimation and cost management tools;
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Autonomy, diligence, and proactivity.
