The AI Development Team Lead directs a multidisciplinary team responsible for delivering production-grade AI solutions for industrial and manufacturing environments, including telemetry analytics, artificial vision, inspection systems, and data-driven optimization. This role combines practical technical expertise with team leadership and project management responsibilities, requiring a pragmatic leader capable of bridging AI innovation with the real-world constraints of industrial settings, while ensuring execution excellence and value creation for clients.

Your main responsibilities will include

• Define the architecture and oversee the development of end-to-end AI solutions (from model development to deployment and continuous monitoring) in industrial environments.
• Lead and mentor a team of AI/ML developers, artificial vision specialists, and frontend/backend software developers; apply best practices in MLOps, code quality, and system reliability.
• Drive industrial intellectual property development initiatives aimed at creating modular technological building blocks (e.g., defect detection engine, quality inspection, object tracking, forecasting modules) using advanced deep learning techniques and classical methods when appropriate.
• Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to transform operational challenges into scalable AI solutions offering measurable ROI.
• Manage project delivery: scope definition, technical roadmap elaboration, and deployment risk mitigation.
• Ensure robust deployments in constrained or edge environments (latency, hardware limitations, lighting variations, data drift, challenging environments, etc.).
• Maintain a watch on advancements in industrial AI, artificial vision models, and deployment frameworks, and guide technological choices.

Key Qualifications

• Strong expertise in deep learning (e.g., CNN, transformers, detection and segmentation models).
• Excellent communication skills in French and English (the role requires regular interaction with colleagues, suppliers, and clients based outside Quebec, nationally, and internationally).
• Experience in deploying AI systems in production, ideally in industrial or manufacturing contexts.
• Proficiency in relevant technologies (Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, OpenCV, edge deployment frameworks).
• Good understanding of MLOps practices, data pipelines, and system integration (APIs, PLCs, MES/SCADA systems).
• Demonstrated experience in managing highly technical teams and delivering complex projects.
