THE CHALLENGES As a Property Inspector or Inspector in Property Evaluation, your main tasks will be:

  • Perform various tasks related to the updating of property files for non-residential and multi-residential buildings;
  • Collaborate with the evaluation role preparation team by conducting visits, inspections and physical surveys of buildings, annexes, accessories and equipment for commercial, industrial, institutional and multi-residential buildings;
  • Create sketches, take photos, question, record and compile dimensions, quantities and physical and locative data as well as all relevant information for the application of evaluation methods;
  • Perform coding, compilation and cost control tasks specified by the evaluator;
  • Participate in the calculation of the depreciated cost of the building using the current rates and factors;
  • Update the evaluation roles of the Quebec Agglomeration, particularly in the inspection of buildings, annexes, accessories and equipment for commercial, industrial and multi-residential buildings;
  • Assist, if necessary, in the presentation of the physical description to which you have contributed, and this, before the courts.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR To join our team, you must

  • Hold a college diploma in an appropriate discipline, such as building estimation and evaluation technology, civil engineering technology, architecture or building mechanics, and have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in the functions of the position. Any other set of education and experience deemed equivalent may be considered;
  • Have good knowledge of construction techniques and the reading of plans and estimates;
  • Possess very good knowledge of Part 3 of the Modernized Edition of the Quebec Property Evaluation Manual and know Parts 1 and 2 of the Modernized Edition of the Quebec Property Evaluation Manual;
  • Have good knowledge of the Municipal Taxation Act and the regulations that flow from it;
  • Possess good knowledge of the Office suite;
  • Be proficient in verbal and written communication, have a concern for customer service and the ability to maintain harmonious and effective working relationships;
  • Other appropriate personal skills and qualities such as demonstrating autonomy, initiative, organization and diligence;
  • Hold a valid driver's license. The person holding the position will be called upon to use their vehicle in the performance of their duties.
