Senior Corporate Actuarial Advisor - Canadian Company
Reporting to the Associate Vice President, within the Corporate Actuarial team for our Canadian company, the successful candidate will play a key role in the execution of diverse and complex actuarial work, including the calculation of policy liabilities and the analyses required to ensure the solvency of the Company. He/she will be called upon to solve problems in a very varied field of application as well as to propose, develop and implement innovative solutions.
Specific Responsibilities
Actuarial Calculations and Analyses
- Perform monthly and annual corporate work related to the calculation of technical provisions, solvency ratios and other information required for financial statements, regulatory forms and the Actuary's Report in compliance with applicable regulatory and actuarial and accounting standards;
- Monitor and meet the collateral requirements for non-approved retrocession and produce the periodic report required by the supervisory authority;
- Contribute to the preparation of the annual budget and continuously analyze the deviations of actual results compared to the budget;
- Analyze the Company's and industry's experience studies in order to recommend appropriate modifications to the assumptions used for the calculation of technical provisions and other liabilities under the contracts;
- Review the calculations and analyses performed by your colleagues, and act as a resource person for them regarding actuarial calculations and analyses (mentoring and team development);
- Respond autonomously to client requests;
- Produce documents required by auditors, retrocessionaries, rating agencies and various regulatory authorities.
Professional Development and Process Improvement
- Ensure awareness of developments in the regulation and accounting, actuarial and tax standards;
- Actively participate in the evaluation of the impact of developments on the Company's balance sheet and solvency as well as on the necessary organizational changes (processes, data, systems, models);
- Conduct a thorough review of models and calculation methods in order to identify improvements in efficiency and accuracy; if necessary, propose new processes.
Experience / Education
- University degree in actuarial science or mathematics;
- FSA/FICA designation and a minimum of seven (7) years of confirmed experience or ASA/AICA designation of career with a minimum of ten (10) years of confirmed experience in a similar position;
- Knowledge of the insurance and/or reinsurance market;
- Knowledge of Canadian actuarial evaluation standards.

- Excellent programming and data manipulation skills (Excel, Access);
- Knowledge of AXIS (an asset);
- Knowledge of IFRS 17 (an asset).
