We are currently looking for a candidate to join our management team at the Montreal site: Operations Finance Controller – Plant

The Operations Finance Controller – Plant holds a dual leadership role, responsible for ensuring complete financial oversight of the Montreal manufacturing plant. The position ensures rigorous financial governance, precise manufacturing cost calculation, and reliable operational financial planning and reporting. The incumbent collaborates closely with the Operations, Supply Chain, and Corporate Finance teams to drive performance, support strategic initiatives, and ensure compliance with internal and external financial standards.

*TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

Financial Leadership – Montreal Manufacturing Plant

• Supervise all financial activities of the Montreal plant, including standard cost determination, inventory valuation, monthly closing processes, and plant performance analysis.
• Maintain and oversee product cost standards, as well as public utility usage rates and general expense calculations.
• Lead the analysis of manufacturing variances, labor and material performance, yields, scrap, and absorption indicators.
• Support plant management by providing financial analyses for operational decision-making, productivity initiatives, new volumes, CAPEX planning, and continuous improvement activities.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, corporate accounting policies, audit requirements, and SOX compliance.
• Lead the financial aspects of the plant’s annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and long-term planning (Operational and Capital Projects).
• Responsible for the quarterly Canadian Standards establishment process (Costing SAP)

Employee Leadership

• Directly manage a team of finance professionals located at the Montreal plant.
• Establish clear performance objectives, provide coaching, and support career development.
• Foster collaboration between plant finance teams and corporate operations finance, and supply chain finance.
• Promote a culture of accuracy, responsibility, and strong business partnership.

Other Tasks

• Promote a safety culture and safety awareness across all plant activities. Support corporate and plant safety policies and procedures.
• Integrate Lean management principles to recommend new approaches for continuous improvement in areas such as efficiency, costs, and service.
• Play a strategic role within the plant management team by influencing key decisions, contributing to overall performance, and supporting the alignment of operational and financial objectives.
• Perform other tasks related to the scope of work, as needed and authorized.

COMPETENCES AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or commerce
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role with team management.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the manufacturing sector, preferably in a regulated environment (pharmaceutical, food, etc.).
• Proven experience in managing, motivating, and developing a team of finance professionals.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills;

• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to prioritize continuously and manage stress in a rapidly evolving environment.
• Excellent communication skills – ability to communicate clearly and concisely in various media – oral and written.
• Bilingualism (French and English) is essential
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, SharePoint, etc.
