The associate store designer participates in the planning, development, and implementation of store design projects for Laura and Melanie Lyne. This position contributes to the development of preliminary layout plans during the conceptual phase, prepares design documentation, creates presentations and 3D renderings, coordinates materials, and participates in the development of innovative commercial spaces that reflect the identity of each brand.

How will you support the team?

  • Prepare CAD plans of the structure to establish plans for the development of preliminary design.
  • Participate in the development of preliminary store layout plans and design concepts from sketches, design direction, and project requirements.
  • Develop and update CAD standards for Laura and Melanie Lyne, including creating and managing CAD block libraries to improve uniformity and efficiency across projects.
  • Review and update CAD drawings following design reviews, modifications, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Create preliminary 3D models using SketchUp and Enscape to illustrate presentations and visualize preliminary concepts.
  • Participate in the preparation of preliminary concept and pre-design folders for architects, consultants, landlords, and contractors.
  • Produce display furniture plans, furniture, cabinetry, and presentation drawings under the direction of the store design team.
  • Coordinate material samples, finish selections, and color palettes from suppliers to support design development and approval.
  • Prepare presentation materials and visual documentation for design reviews, executive presentations, and special projects.
  • Participate in site visits, on-site measurements, and documentation of existing conditions.
  • Support the coordination of design criteria imposed by mall landlords and submission requirements for mall approvals.
  • Maintain good organization of project documentation, drawing files, specifications, and design folders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including construction, real estate, visual merchandising, and procurement, as well as external consultants to ensure project delivery.
  • Ensure that all drawings and documentation are accurate, up-to-date, and completed on time for the project.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, materials, and best practices in store design.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in interior design, architectural technology, interior architecture, or a related field
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in retail store design, commercial spaces, or interior design with experience in creating technical drawings and design documentation
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with Enscape is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of store design principles, space planning, construction documentation, cabinetry, display furniture, finishes, and materials
  • Familiarity with mall landlord submission requirements is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail, good organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to translate sketches, modifications, and design concepts into precise technical drawings
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external partners
