Laundry Attendant - Reminder List

The Sainte-Justine University Hospital Center is the largest mother-child hospital in Canada and one of the four most important pediatric centers in America. Main Tasks and Activities:

Under the responsibility of the head of the department, perform general work in the laundry and lingerie, including: sorting, manual or automatic folding, manual classification of laundry from fold machines, ironers, and/or feeders, and handling the various controls related to these equipment as well as preparing and distributing the lingerie carts.

Laundry Sector

• Collect laundry from the drop-off areas, locker rooms, and uniform room and transport it to the laundry for washing.
• Feed the loading conveyors of the tunnel and the 450 lbs washer.
• Remove metal items (scissors, needles) and lingerie that may bleed before washing.
• Sort clean laundry at the exit of the conditioner and assign a code to each category of laundry to be sorted.
• Operate and maintain automatic fold machines, perform simple maintenance of machines.
• Transport laundry from the unloading conveyor to the fold machines or folding tables.
• Perform manual repairs when mechanical breakdowns occur in automated equipment.
• Check the quality of the laundry and return it if necessary for washing or repair.
• Prepare and feed laundry for the uniform tunnel, ironer, or small fold machines.
• Manage uniforms: fold, classify, transport to the uniform service, and ensure their quality.

Lingerie Sector

• Receive lingerie orders by phone or fax.
• Prepare daily lingerie orders according to the needs of the services.
• Remove laundry requiring re-washing or repairs.
• Mark new laundry periodically using a machine, according to procedures.
• Serve customers who come to the laundry to obtain lingerie.
• Manage piles of laundry from the conveyor and store them on carts or in appropriate spaces.
• Prepare and load carts according to quotas and direct them to their destination.
• **Participate in the classification, folding, and bagging of lingerie.
• Prepare and deliver lingerie requisitions to the floors.
• Collect dirty laundry on weekends and transport it to the mezzanine.

Your Qualifications

• High school diploma (DES) or equivalent issued by the Quebec Ministry of Immigration, Diversity, and Inclusion;
• Be available starting at 6 am
• Be available full-time on day and evening shifts
• Be available all weekends
