How to move things forward on a daily basis

• Perform functions as a peace officer, according to applicable powers and responsibilities;
• Train mandates and their staff in the inspection of road vehicles to teach the necessary knowledge to perform their tasks;
• Recommend training and actions to ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory and contractual requirements, such as; Regulation on the Safety Standards of Road Vehicles (RNSVR) and the Highway Safety Code (HSC) to their contractual obligations and the SAAQ's administrative directives;
• Analyze the recognition requests of the Preventive Maintenance Programs (PMP) to ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements by analyzing:
• + Maintenance records;
• + Mechanical condition of vehicles;
• + Facilities;

+ Staff skills.

• Answer mandates' questions, conduct research and document analysis, and follow up;
• Participate in the processing of complaints and reports by inspecting road vehicles, analyzing documents and collecting relevant information;
• Write reports summarizing the interventions and observations made and formulate recommendations on corrective or improvement measures.

The qualities and skills we are looking for

• Demonstrate autonomy in performing your activities;
• Demonstrate excellent judgment in your decisions to ensure compliance with regulatory, contractual and administrative directives by mandates;
• Skills to communicate effectively and negotiate to address complaints related to mandates' work;
• Good capacity to transmit information in a clear, structured and adapted manner to trained people.

Job requirements

• Hold a high school diploma equivalent to the 11th grade or the 5th year of secondary school recognized by the competent authority or a relevant education certificate whose equivalence is recognized by the competent authority;

+ A person who has less than an 11th grade or a 5th year of secondary school can compensate for each missing year of education by two years of paid or unpaid work experience, including family workload.

+ For consideration, any education completed outside of Canada must be subject to a comparative evaluation (equivalence certificate) issued by the Ministry of Immigration, Francization and Integration (MIFI).

• Hold five years of experience in the field of heavy vehicle mechanics;
• Have appropriate knowledge of French for the functions.

Other requirements related to the job

• Possess a Class 5 driver's license;
• Meet the requirements set out in the *Civil Security Filtering Program*;
• Have Canadian citizenship status (in accordance with section 115 of the *Police Act*);
• Meet the 1st, 2nd and 3rd paragraphs of the first paragraph of section 115 of the *Police Act* (chapter P-13.1);
• Pass a medical examination demonstrating that the person is fit to perform the functions of a highway safety inspector.
