We are looking for an Extrusion Operator Assistant to join our team and contribute to the smooth operation of our production processes.

The Extrusion Operator Assistant supports the extrusion operator in the operation of blown film production lines. They participate in material changes, equipment start-ups and shutdowns, quality control of products, and production procedure tracking.

The incumbent ensures efficient, safe, and quality-compliant production in line with company standards and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• 1. Production Operations Support

1.1 Perform tasks related to the handling of raw materials (resins, additives, and color boxes) and verify the connections of the material feeding system.

1.2 Participate in material changes and perform feeder stops according to the operator's established schedule.

1.3 Assist the operator during start-ups, shutdowns, and routine operations of blown film extrusion lines.

1.4 Make necessary adjustments according to the operator's directives to maintain optimal equipment performance.

1.5 Participate in monitoring production parameters (temperature, line speed, pressure, and other critical parameters).

1.6 Identify and report production issues or quality deviations to the operator.

1.7 Follow production priorities and instructions given by the operator.

2. Quality Control 2.1 Verify the connections of collectors to silos and additive tanks for each work order at the beginning of the shift.

2.2 Verify the compliance of raw materials used for production (resins, recycled materials, additives).

2.3 Perform required quality checks according to the established frequency, including measuring weight per length (grams/meter), width, and other film characteristics to ensure customer requirements are met.

2.4 Perform checks related to film characteristics, including thickness, surface treatment, slip coefficient, impact, opacity, repetition, gauge bands, matrix lines, visual defects, and other applicable criteria.

2.5 Complete non-conformance reports and take film samples when required.

2.6 Verify the weight of finished rolls, perform labeling, record production information, and complete the required transactions in the management system (Sage).

3. Documentation and Communication 3.1 Learn and complete production logs, shift reports, and other required documents accurately and on time.

3.2 Communicate any observations, anomalies, production issues, or improvement suggestions to the operator.

4. Health, Safety, and Maintenance 4.1 Adhere to all health and safety policies, procedures, and rules.

4.2 Participate in regular machine, equipment, and workspace cleaning to maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment.

4.3 Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or potential safety risks promptly.

4.4 Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Qualifications

5.1 High school diploma (DES) or equivalent experience.

5.2 Experience in a manufacturing or industrial production environment (an asset).

5.3 Interest in learning plastic film extrusion processes and progressing towards an operator role.

5.4 Ability to work with industrial equipment and perform physical tasks.

5.5 Strong learning capacity, attention to detail, and sense of responsibility.

5.6 Team spirit and good communication skills.

5.7 Compliance with quality and health and safety standards.
