The General Assistant at Extrusion plays a crucial role in supporting the plastic film manufacturing operations. In collaboration with the extrusion operator, they participate in the operation of production lines, production changes, handling of raw materials and finished products, as well as product quality control.

The incumbent ensures efficient, safe, and quality-compliant production in line with the company and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Support for Extrusion Operations

1.1 Assist the extrusion operator in operating the blown film lines to ensure continuous and efficient production.

1.2 Participate in start-ups, shutdowns, and production changes according to established procedures.

1.3 Perform necessary handling tasks, such as moving resins, additives, and color boxes using appropriate equipment (forklift, pallet jack, etc.).

1.4 Cut mandrels (cores) to the required dimensions for production.

1.5 Perform visual inspections of products and report any anomalies to the operator or supervisor.

2. Handling of Rolls and Finished Products 2.1 Safely remove finished rolls from the winders and transport them to designated packaging areas.

2.2 Verify the weight, dimensions, and identification of rolls according to production specifications.

2.3 Package finished rolls according to internal procedures and customer requirements.

2.4 Perform labeling and prepare finished products for shipment.

3. Material Management and Workplace Maintenance 3.1 Prepare the necessary raw materials for production according to the operator's instructions.

3.2 Organize resins and additives during production changes and ensure proper identification.

3.3 Clean equipment, machines, and work areas to maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment.

3.4 Use cleaning products and methods according to established procedures.

4. Quality, Documentation, and Continuous Improvement 4.1 Perform requested quality checks and notify the production team of any non-conformities.

4.2 Complete the required production documents according to company procedures.

4.3 Participate in the continuous improvement of work methods and propose improvement ideas.

5. Health and Safety 5.1 Adhere to all health and safety policies, procedures, and rules.

5.2 Always wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE).

5.3 Report any hazardous situations, anomalies, or equipment failures to the operator or supervisor promptly.

5.4 Maintain a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues.

Qualifications

6.1 High school diploma (DES) or equivalent experience.

6.2 Experience in a manufacturing or industrial production environment (an asset).

6.3 Interest in learning the operation of extrusion equipment and progressing towards an operator role.

6.4 Ability to perform physical and handling tasks.

6.5 Sense of organization, reliability, autonomy, and attention to detail.

6.6 Team spirit and good communication skills.

6.7 Compliance with health and safety standards.

6.8 Availability to work different shifts, if needed.
