About the Role

We are seeking a strategic, analytical, and trend-driven Apparel Buyer to join our Merchandising team. The Apparel Buyer will be responsible for developing and executing merchandise assortments that align with company objectives, customer preferences, and market trends. This role requires a strong understanding of product development, vendor management, and retail performance to drive sales, margin, and inventory productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute seasonal merchandise strategies and assortment plans that support sales and profitability goals.
  • Understanding sales performance, inventory levels, customer trends, and market opportunities to make informed buying decisions.
  • Identify emerging fashion trends, competitive activity, and customer preferences to build commercially successful product assortments.
  • Partner closely with Design, Product Development, Planning, and Allocation teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Select and develop product assortments, ensuring alignment with brand positioning and target customer needs.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and terms with vendors and suppliers to maximize profitability.
  • Manage open-to-buy budgets and maintain inventory levels that support business objectives.
  • Process purchase orders in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitor product performance and recommend markdowns, reorders, cancellations, or promotional strategies as needed.
  • Conduct regular business reviews and present assortment strategies and performance insights to leadership.
  • Travel to market appointments, vendor meetings, and industry events as required.
  • Ensure all product selections meet quality, cost, delivery, and margin expectations.
  • Understanding garment fits.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of buying experience within apparel fashion retail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French
  • Strong understanding of retail math, assortment planning, inventory management, and financial analysis.
  • Proven ability to interpret sales data and market trends to drive business decisions.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and retail reporting systems.
  • Strong ability to work as a team player.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
