- Scan items
- Receive payments for products or services
- Stock shelves and clean counters around the cash register

- Weigh products and bulk foods
- Provide customer service
- Monitor traffic and ask for proof of payment when necessary
- Check the age of customers who purchase lottery tickets, alcohol, or tobacco products
