About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Low Carbon Compliance, the Finance Coordinator, Low Carbon Fuels is responsible for the financial accounting, valuation, forecasting, and reporting of the Company's low carbon compliance programs.
The Finance Coordinator ensures compliance activities are accurately reflected in financial records, supports financial planning and analysis related to compliance programs, and serves as the primary liaison with Corporate Accounting for Canadian low carbon compliance financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Account for low carbon compliance credits and regulatory obligations in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Prepare journal entries and ensure accurate reporting of low carbon compliance assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses.
- Maintain and reconcile low carbon compliance credit inventories and compliance-related balance sheet accounts.
- Act as the primary liaison with Corporate Accounting for Canadian low carbon compliance financial reporting matters.
- Develop and maintain valuation methodologies for compliance credit banks and compliance positions.
- Monitor market conditions and assess the financial impact of low carbon credit price movements and compliance strategies.
- Prepare forecasts, perform variance analyses, and support short and long-term planning activities related to compliance programs.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes and the implementation of new accounting standards.
- Collaborate with commercial, supply, regulatory, and accounting teams to assess the financial impacts of compliance and market changes.
- Develop and maintain effective financial controls over low carbon compliance accounting processes.
- Coordinate vendor setup, invoice review, and payment processing related to low carbon compliance credit purchases.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPA designation (or progress toward designation).
- 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Bilingual - French and English (spoken and written).
- Experience in the energy sector (an asset).
- Proficient in Excel and SAP (an asset).
- Comfortable with ambiguity.
- Ability to manage multiple complex files simultaneously and under pressure.
- Analytical skills.
- Organizational and time management skills.
