A regular 28-hour per week position for an Accounting Technician is open at the Quebec Council for Music (CQM), a non-profit organization that advocates for the professional music industry and contributes to the promotion of live music rooted in creation, research, and tradition.

Under the responsibility of the Executive Director, the Accounting Technician manages the complete accounting cycle, from transaction entry to the preparation of preliminary financial statements, and provides accounting analyses to support the Executive Director in decision-making.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Maintain and record books. Record purchase invoices, sales invoices, and expenses.

Manage vendor payments and customer account collections.

Perform bank reconciliation. Verify the consistency between bank statements and accounting books.

Prepare payroll and benefits. Administer employee payroll and produce end-of-year reports (T4, Relevé 1).

Complete tax reports (GST/QST).

Prepare end-of-year files for auditors or external accountants.

Collaborate on the annual budget and periodic updates.

Provide financial analyses to support informed decision-making.

What you need to succeed in this role

  • DEC – Accounting and Management Techniques
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in accounting, having completed a full accounting cycle

Proficiency in Sage Simple Accounting software and intermediate to advanced Excel knowledge.

Knowledge of the Microsoft, Google, and Airtable environments;

Attention to detail, precision, and organizational skills

Good knowledge of written and spoken French

Ability to work in a team

Conditions

  • 28 hours/week, including 2 days in the office (Monday and Tuesday)
  • Work location: Montreal (1908 Panet Street, Suite 302, H2L 3A2)
