We are looking for a civil engineer specializing in building structures, capable of analyzing complex situations and solving mysteries with a scientific approach. If you are someone who takes their work seriously but also knows how to have a sense of humor, we want to meet you!

Your mission!
As a forensic expert, you will be called upon to solve some of the most particular and perplexing cases in the field. No mystery is too small or too big for you to solve. You will need to, among other things:
- Conduct investigations to determine the origin and cause of structural failures and damage to buildings, foundations, and building envelopes;
- Visit scenes and perform inspections, take photos, videos, measurements, and collect any relevant evidence to solve the mystery;
- Review plans, building codes, technical estimates, maintenance or modification logs, and any other documents that may illuminate your analysis;
- Analyze damage caused by collapses of all types, floods, winds, soil movements, blasting and vibrations, water infiltration, condensation, bodily injuries, etc.;
- Determine the origin and cause of damage to building envelopes, roof membranes, and structures of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings;
- Assess the safety of building structures and provide temporary bracing design services;
- Conduct analyses and reviews of compliance with the Quebec Building Code and applicable standards;
- Collect and analyze data and other evidence in the file;
- Write detailed reports and act as an expert witness in court, if necessary;
- Collaborate with other investigators to solve multidisciplinary mysteries;

In your toolkit
- Hold a university degree in civil engineering or construction engineering with a focus on structures (an asset) or other equivalent training;
- Three to five years of practical experience in one or more of the following fields of expertise: construction methods and procedures, structures, building envelope, civil works, infrastructure, building science engineering;
- Experience in wood, concrete, and/or metal structure design (a significant asset);
- Be a member of the OIQ;
- Excellent mastery of French and English, both spoken and written;
- Practical knowledge of standards and the Building Code;
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
- Excellent ability to synthesize and analyze information as well as identify and solve problems;
- Ability to write technical reports;
- Exceptional time management that allows you to manage multiple projects at once.
