MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the responsibility of the CJI's management
1) Legal Representation and Case Management
- Develop a legal services offering for homeless individuals (PSI);
- Conduct initial information gathering (intakes) with new and returning users of the CJI requiring legal assistance;
- Represent homeless individuals (PSI) in front of criminal courts;
- Provide legal consultation services to CJI users;
- Write additional written observations, defense pleas, and other ad-hoc measures for CJI users, as needed;
- Develop accompaniment plans for represented users within the "Street Lawyer" project, as needed;
- Provide moral support to users with the support of the entire CJI team.
2) Community Links
- Establish links and partnerships with various community organizations working with the street community;
- Visit these organizations;
- In collaboration with colleagues, represent the CJI at appropriate and relevant events within the community and legal milieu.
3) Legal Information
- Ability to simplify legal information and legal issues;
- Refer users to other legal or community resources, as needed.
4) Administration and Other Tasks
- Maintain user files according to professional standards;
- Assist management, particularly for reporting and other communication tools.
5) Work with Students and Volunteers
- In collaboration with colleagues from the Barreau, ensure the presence and supervision of CJI's student and volunteer work during clinical sessions;
- Review student and volunteer work and provide continuous feedback on work, interventions, and note-taking.
6) General Tasks
- Participate in team meetings;
- Participate in the annual training of CJI's student volunteers;
- Any other task assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCES
- Be a member in good standing with the Barreau du Québec;
- Have excellent knowledge of issues specific to homelessness; experience in social intervention, work with PSI, are great assets;
- Ability to work in a team and be autonomous, integrity and diplomacy;
- Excellent professional ethics and good time and priority management;
- Excellent communication and writing skills in French and English.
Working Conditions
- Competitive annual salary: to be discussed based on experience;
- Full-time: 40 hours per week;

- Salary: $70,000.00 to $75,000.00 per year
