Specific Functions and Responsibilities

  • Handles assistance and support requests, evaluates them, and manages them according to priorities;
  • Performs various tasks such as installation, troubleshooting, repair, verification, calibration, construction, and modification of medical equipment under their responsibility;
  • Assembles and adapts medical equipment;
  • Conducts quality control to ensure optimal and safe operation of medical equipment before putting it back into service;
  • Documents the actions taken, informs users about the intervention performed, and follows up if necessary;
  • Participates in committees that develop procedures related to preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment;
  • Manages problems received, prioritizes, and plans actions based on the urgency of each;
  • Identifies the source of the problem, establishes a diagnosis, and repairs the medical equipment diligently using available resources;
  • Supervises interventions performed by an external service representative and may collaborate with them, depending on the situation;
  • Ensures that external vendor service reports accurately represent the work performed and manages these documents effectively for future consultations and references;
  • Informs users of the repair time for a breakdown, suggests solution paths, and collaborates on developing a replacement plan to maintain as much as possible the provision of care and services to patients;
  • Observes the use of medical equipment by a healthcare professional in a clinical setting to detect any malfunction or intermittent problem;
  • Checks the performance of medical equipment, their compliance with current standards, and their overall condition;
  • Establishes or participates in the development of a preventive maintenance schedule for a defined period;
  • Establishes the procedure to be performed for each medical equipment targeted by the global preventive maintenance program;
  • Provides technical assistance to user personnel during the commissioning of new medical equipment;
  • Proposes the purchase or replacement of tools, software, computer systems, and ECME necessary for the performance of their tasks;
  • Uses the computer-assisted maintenance management system (CMMS) optimally at their disposal;
  • Participates in the inventory of medical equipment by providing all required information and ensures the maintenance of up-to-date files (computer or paper, as applicable) by documenting all interventions precisely and in detail;
  • Applies the institution's policy for the removal or disposal of medical equipment at the end of its useful life;
  • Performs and documents the results of electrical safety tests before putting new medical equipment into service or after corrective or preventive maintenance;
  • Performs required interventions on medical equipment during medical alerts or technical recalls from the manufacturer.
