About the Position
Café Napoléon is a family-owned Montreal business specializing in coffee roasting since 1983. Our café-boutique is located directly in front of our roasting plant, allowing us to offer a wide selection of freshly roasted coffees, prepared beverages, food products, accessories, and espresso machines.
We are looking for an experienced individual to take charge of the daily operations of the boutique and actively contribute to its development.
This position combines team management, operational improvement, product development, and active field presence. The person will need to be comfortable with scheduling, vendor management, and supporting the team at the counter during busy periods.
This is not just an administrative role. We are looking for an action-oriented individual, present with their team and customers, capable of setting an example and participating in operations when needed.
Your Mandate
The selected person will be responsible for improving the organization of the boutique, evolving our offer, increasing sales, and ensuring a consistent and high-quality customer experience.
They will benefit from real autonomy to propose and implement new ideas, in collaboration with the management.
Main Responsibilities
Team Management and Support
- Supervise, support, and motivate the barista team;
- Prepare work schedules and ensure good organization of shifts;
- Train employees and communicate service, quality, cleanliness, and presentation standards;
- Support and empower team members to consistently meet these standards;
- Participate in some shifts and support the team during busy periods, absences, or operational needs.
Boutique Development
- Propose and implement seasonal offers, promotions, and initiatives to attract and retain customers;
- Participate in the evolution of the beverage and food menu;
- Develop new ideas to improve the customer experience and increase sales;
- Analyze customer needs and adapt the boutique's offer;
- Contribute to the presentation of products and the overall appearance of the boutique.
Purchasing, Inventory, and Vendors
- Manage inventories and orders for all products sold or used in the boutique;
- Track costs, quantities, and product availability;
- Communicate with current vendors;
- Research new products and vendors to evolve our offer;
- Maintain a good inventory level while minimizing losses and surpluses.
Coffee, Accessories, and Espresso Machines
- Develop a good knowledge of our coffees to adequately advise customers;
- Learn about different roasting profiles, preparation methods, and product characteristics;
- Advise customers on bulk coffee purchases;
- Learn to present and sell available accessories and espresso machines;
- Participate in the development of accessory and machine sales.
Training on coffee, products, and espresso machines will be provided.
Desired Profile
- Relevant experience in management within a café, restaurant, boutique, or retail store;
- Experience in supervision, training, and team motivation;
- Positive leadership and ability to enforce standards with patience and professionalism;
- Proactive, organized, and solution-oriented individual;
- Ability to turn ideas into concrete actions;
- Excellent customer service skills;
- Interest in coffee, sales, and product development;
- Comfort with inventory, order, and vendor management;
- Ability to set priorities and work autonomously;
- Team spirit and willingness to get involved in a growing small business;
- Occasional weekend or event availability.

Conditions and Benefits
- Base salary of $25/hour;
- Tips in addition;
- Commissions on certain sales, including espresso machines and some accessories;
- Schedule of 32 to 40 hours per week;
- Primarily weekday schedule, with occasional weekend or event availability;

About café napoléon
As our roasting plant is located directly behind the boutique, the selected person will have the opportunity to develop a deep knowledge of coffee, our production methods, and our different roasting profiles.
They will work closely with a small team and the management to evolve the boutique and maintain high standards.
