Reporting to the Senior Director – Human Resources, the Commercial Partner – Human Resources will act as a commercial partner for the Corporate, Commercial and/or Operations groups and oversee all aspects of human resources related to the clients assigned to them in order to generate business results. The selected person will need to provide strategic advice, in person and in a timely manner, as well as address complex or systemic issues related to work, proposing suitable solutions that require careful consideration, regarding aspects of the company that have multiple facets and levels.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Senior Director – Human Resources to work with the management team to determine current and future human resources requirements, based on organizational needs and operational priorities.
- Accompany and guide senior management and all levels of management to ensure that human resources policies, programs and procedures are effectively applied, ensuring compliance and understanding, as well as to ensure the smooth running of human resources activities related to the employee life cycle.
- Collaborate with managers at all levels and their business units to provide advice to improve efficiency, organizational restructuring and team structure.
- Collaborate with key human resources experts to provide sound advice to team leaders in the areas of training, staffing, development and change management.
- Based on the company's organizational restructuring processes and talent management programs, support business units in establishing appropriate succession plans to minimize organizational risks.
- Lead human resources projects for the clients assigned to them; provide oversight, research data, and propose options and solutions to support the company's objectives.
- Make human resources decisions in the best interest of Air Canada; question decisions, if necessary.
- Guide and advise other Human Resources Advisors on difficult or sensitive issues related to performance, disciplinary measures and termination. Ensure the uniformity of human resources procedures across the organization.
- Guide and advise managers and administrative and technical support staff, if necessary, on any workplace-related issues. Respond to their needs, provide resources, make recommendations and submit files to a higher level, if necessary.
- Prepare and make presentations to important internal and external partners to support appropriate human resources initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to develop a recruitment strategy to find appropriate candidates for positions requiring very specific and unique skills.
- Assume a leadership role in the absence of the Senior Director – Human Resources.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in human resources management, industrial relations or a related field.
- Professional designation in human resources, an asset.
- At least five years of professional experience in human resources, including experience in a generalist human resources role.
- Proven ability to determine human resources needs and requirements and develop an appropriate action plan.
- Proven aptitude for project management.
- Strong communication, interpersonal relations and analytical skills.
- Reliability, team spirit and proven ability to work autonomously.
- Ability to build strong relationships and credibility with all levels of management.
- High level of customer orientation.
- Autonomy and dynamism.
- Change agent, results-oriented attitude and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Employment Conditions:
Candidates must be admissible to work in the country concerned at the time an employment offer is made and are responsible for obtaining the necessary work permits, visas or other authorizations. Proof of admissibility must be provided before the start date.
