The Training and Development Manager oversees the day-to-day administration and optimization of the Learning Management System (LMS), manages training projects, and supports the development of new content and learning experiences. This person collaborates with instructional designers, content experts, operations managers, and vendors to ensure that training programs remain effective, relevant, and aligned with business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Training Program Management

  • Manage the planning, coordination, and implementation of training and development programs and initiatives.
  • Support the implementation of training strategies established by the Training and Development leadership.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, milestones, and communication plans related to training initiatives.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental activities necessary to achieve training programs.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and escalate issues as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date training program documentation, project schedules, and progress reports.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to understand training needs and support learning solutions addressing operational challenges.
  • Translate operational priorities into a Canadian training roadmap, establishing program sequences, learner profiles, and success metrics.
  • Serve as the primary contact for Canadian training activities, coordinating with the Springfield Training and Development team to ensure global governance while leading Canadian programs.
  • Learning Management System (LMS) Administration and Management
  • Serve as the primary functional owner of the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Manage LMS features, configuration, content deployment, testing, reporting, and user support processes.
  • Coordinate LMS improvements, upgrades, integrations, and vendor relationships.
  • Track LMS usage, learner engagement, training success rates, and system performance.
  • Produce and distribute reports and dashboards providing data on training activities and effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the learning experience through technology and process optimization.
  • Support the evaluation and implementation of new learning technologies and digital tools.
  • Support for Training Content Development
  • Coordinate the development, review, updating, and deployment of training content.
  • Collaborate with instructional designers, content developers, and content experts to support the creation of training materials.
  • Contribute to establishing content development request priorities and managing project timelines.
  • Ensure training materials are aligned with business objectives, operational standards, and learner needs.
  • Support the development of classroom training, online training, virtual training, job aids, videos, assessments, and hybrid learning solutions.
  • Establish and maintain a revision schedule to ensure training content remains current and accurate.
  • Participate in quality assurance processes and content governance standards.
  • Performance Measurement and Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor training performance metrics, including success rates, participation, engagement, learner satisfaction, and program effectiveness.
  • Analyze data from the LMS and training activities to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Gather feedback from learners, trainers, and business partners to enhance learning experiences.
  • Produce periodic reports and summaries for the Training and Development leadership.
  • Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency, quality, and learner engagement.
  • Management Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to team members responsible for learning technologies and program support.
  • Manage team priorities, workload, and project assignments.
  • Coach and develop team members to foster professional growth and performance.
  • Foster collaboration between training and development teams, operations, distribution, sales, and corporate services.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, customer service, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Training and Development, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in training and development, training operations management, learning technologies, program management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in team management or project management.
  • Experience in the administration or support of a Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Experience in coordinating training programs, learning projects, or content development initiatives.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic and evolving environment.
  • Proficiency in both French and English, both oral and written.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Expertise in a related field.
  • Experience with large-scale organizations in the retail, distribution, logistics, or field operations sectors.
  • Experience with instructional design processes and adult learning principles.
  • Experience with training analytics, reporting tools, and learning technologies.
