The team of landscape design and ecological architecture at Nature-Action Québec carries out several projects each year to restore or enhance our natural environments and urban greening projects to combat climate change. We are currently looking for a horticultural assistant to carry out landscape design and horticultural maintenance work with an ecological approach.

JOB DUTIES

  • Load, unload, and transport tools to the landscaping site;
  • Transport plants and inert materials (soil, compost, mulch, etc.);
  • Clean the site and prepare the location;
  • Perform planting of trees, shrubs, and perennials;
  • Maintain plantings (weeding, watering, and other tasks);
  • Prune shrubs and young trees for formation pruning;
  • Perform work to combat invasive plant species (common reed, blackberry, etc.);
  • Perform landscape design work (maintenance of trails, installation of interpretive panels and birdhouses, etc.);
  • Perform any other tasks as requested by your immediate supervisor.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) in horticulture or other relevant environmental training (agriculture, bioecology, etc.);
  • At least three (3) months of experience in horticulture and/or landscape design or equivalent experience;
  • Ability to perform physical tasks requiring strength and endurance (lifting weights, working in a crouched position, standing for long periods, performing repetitive motions, etc.);
  • Good physical endurance to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, etc.);
  • Ability to work as a team (team spirit);
  • Ability to perform tasks with care;
  • Possession of knowledge in horticulture, environment, or a relevant field of study;
  • Knowledge of native plant species and EVEE (an asset);
  • Possession of a Class 5 driver's license, experience driving a truck with a trailer, or experience in construction and/or operation of small machinery (assets).

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Duration of the mandate: Seasonal, starting on August 31, 2026, until mid-November.
  • Work location: 100% fieldwork. Greater Montreal area (CMM), mainly the South Shore of Montreal. Meeting and departure point in Beloeil.
  • Number of hours: 36 to 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Possibility of overtime paid at time and a half.
  • Hourly rate: Starting at $20.74/hour, depending on experience.
