Description

Under the supervision of the Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager, the Natural Environments Technician carries out field operations. He performs research, analysis, and produces the required reports and awareness tools. He will participate in projects to characterize wetlands, raise awareness among wetland owners, fight against invasive species (EVEE), conduct natural environment patrols, planting, etc.

TASK PROFILE

  • Conducts faunal and floral characterizations and inventories;
  • Conducts natural environment restoration work (planting, fighting against EVEE);
  • Conducts faunal arrangements and installs small infrastructures on-site;
  • Prepares field trips;
  • Conducts natural environment monitoring activities (patrol, follow-up visits);
  • Compiles and enters data into the database;
  • Analyzes and processes biological data (fauna, flora, ecosystem);
  • Researches information on topics related to biological sciences and biodiversity present in the project territory;
  • Assists the team in writing various documents promoting environmental protection;
  • Prepares and participates in awareness workshops and kiosks;
  • Assists the team in preparing progress reports on work;
  • Performs any other related tasks.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Diploma in Natural Environments, Forestry, Wildlife Management, Hunting and Fishing Management, Bioecology, or related field (in progress);
  • At least six (6) months of relevant experience in the environment;
  • Good proficiency in office software (Word, Excel, databases);
  • Knowledge of using maps and geographic positioning systems;
  • Good knowledge of the fauna and flora present in southern Quebec;
  • Be in good physical condition;
  • Be comfortable working outdoors (all weather conditions);
  • Sense of organization, diligence, and ability to communicate with diverse clientele;
  • Have access to a vehicle and be available to travel in Montérégie and the Greater Montreal Area.
