This position is to be filled within Financement Commercial Northpoint, a subsidiary of Banque Laurentienne.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a multidimensional business development plan tailored to the transportation/construction sector.
  • Drive business development and client portfolio growth.
  • Implement a direct outreach strategy targeting promising potential clients (i.e., established trucking and construction companies with moderate to significant annual investment spending).
  • Establish and maintain productive working relationships with key equipment suppliers.
  • Be an active member of industry associations.
  • Recommend value-added lease and financing structures compliant with Financement Commercial Northpoint's policies and procedures.
  • Analyze financial statements and prepare credit applications.
  • Collaborate closely with other members of the Financement Commercial Northpoint team to ensure timely delivery of products and client request processing.
  • Stay informed about market trends, sector legislation, and competitors' strengths to maximize prospecting efficiency and create new business opportunities.
  • Monitor the portfolio to ensure it always complies with existing terms and conditions (credit risk control).
  • Ensure compliance with Financement Commercial Northpoint's policies and applicable laws in each transaction.
  • Promote cross-selling opportunities with the Bank.
  • Perform other related tasks as needed and/or requested by the Assistant Vice President.

Qualifications

  • University degree in a relevant field and five to eight years of experience in commercial loans, including equipment financing and leasing.
  • Strong background in business development and negotiation.
  • Experience in financial statement analysis.
  • Understanding of transportation/construction equipment, including brands, models, and evaluations.
  • Proficiency in loan and lease structures and products, as well as the promotion of these products to meet client needs.
  • Proven ability to structure financial operations.
  • Verifiable skills for presentations and written communication.
  • Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional team spirit and integrity in dealing with all stakeholders.
  • Bilingualism (French and English).
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or CPA/CFA professional designation, an asset.
  • Established network in the transportation and/or construction sector in Quebec.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for client visits.
  • Professional proficiency in French and English is required as the position requires frequent written and oral communications on complex issues with internal and external parties in both languages.
