The School Transport Scheduler plans, coordinates, and controls activities related to school transportation to provide a reliable, secure, and compliant service according to the standards set by school service centers, transporters, and competent authorities.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Daily Operations Management
- Manage daily school transportation circuits;
- Plan and coordinate human and material resources for operations;
- Ensure service continuity by adapting scheduling according to operational needs;
- Ensure effective, optimal, and profitable management of scheduling activities.
- Planning and Coordination
- Assign transportation circuits to drivers;
- Monitor schedules, routes, and assignments;
- Coordinate replacements in case of absence, delay, or unexpected events;
- Optimize the use of vehicles, equipment, and available resources.
- Communication and Customer Service
- Act as a resource person for drivers, service centers, and management;
- Respond to information requests from customers and drivers;
- Ensure communication via phone, CB radio, and other means;
- Quickly inform concerned parties of route, schedule, or exceptional situation changes;
- Respond effectively to emergencies and ensure required follow-ups.
- Administrative and Operational Tracking
- Monitor daily departures, returns, and vehicle movements;
- Keep records, reports, files, and databases up-to-date in the ERP system;
- Document and report incidents, delays, mechanical breakdowns, or operational issues;
- Participate in the development, revision, and improvement of school transportation circuits in collaboration with service centers.
- Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulations for school transportation;
- Collaborate on handling complaints, investigations, and incident reports;
- Support drivers in applying safety procedures and best practices;
- Ensure compliance with requirements set by service centers and regulatory bodies.
- Other Responsibilities
- Perform any other tasks related to school transportation operations or management directives.
Job Requirements
- Experience in school transportation scheduling (a significant asset), logistics, or transportation;
- Good knowledge of the served territory;
- Proficiency in computer tools (Microsoft 365);
- Knowledge of scheduling software (CIS an asset);
- Excellent communication skills - clear and professional, both verbal and written.
