Responsibilities
Under the responsibility of the Director, Cost Control, the Cost Controller provides strong analytical support to the plant management, ensures the implementation of financial and accounting policies (including SOX controls), and constructively challenges management when necessary. This position is essential to strengthen cost control, support operational decision-making, and ensure financial discipline. The person will be responsible for:
- Participating in the preparation of files for the development of short- and long-term forecasts, and accurately representing deviations to ensure the financial team in the plants can track whether objectives are on target and identify any deviations in monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and strategic plans;
- Participating in the preparation of files for regular cost tracking and reporting of raw material handling costs, steel manufacturing, rolling, and supply chain costs to support the plant financial control team and quickly report any deviations to plant management;
- Preparing reports for overtime tracking and reporting deviations;
- Participating in the preparation of high-value-added improvement projects, ensuring their proper accounting, and being responsible for reporting to the corporation;
- Supporting plant financial controllers in preparing reports, ensuring proper accounting, and preparing journal entries for Capex projects;
- Working closely with the plant Financial Control team;
- Providing support in preparing monthly operational reviews;
- Leading physical inventory counts and ensuring the accuracy of inventory quantities and values, as well as compliance with ArcelorMittal accounting standards;
- Responding to requests from internal and external auditors.
Requirements
- Hold a bachelor's degree in administration, business, management accounting, or equivalent;
- Have solid experience in finance within the manufacturing sector;
- Hold the CPA designation;
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel;
- Be familiar with management software, and knowledge of SAP is an asset;
- Have excellent analytical and data interpretation skills;
- Demonstrate a good spirit of collaboration and the ability to challenge and influence stakeholders;
- Demonstrate strong communication skills in both French and English for corporate interactions;
- Have demonstrated experience in leading operational actions and influencing decision-making;
- Show autonomy, the ability to plan and anticipate tasks and responsibilities to meet tight deadlines;
- Be able to manage multiple files simultaneously and have a sense of urgency;
- Prioritize health and safety by promoting good practices and integrating ArcelorMittal's 10 Golden Rules into daily work.
