Under the supervision of the SST Director, the mandate of the SST Site Manager consists of planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating the SST activities of various sites. He or she will work in collaboration with the Site Management Team to ensure compliance and maintain excellence in the safety program.

  • Lead and assist Site Coordinators, General Superintendents, and Superintendents in interpreting and administering tasks related to legislative requirements, the national SST program, and policies;
  • Participate in the development, review, and implementation of the SST program, policies, and procedures;
  • Guide the site management staff in achieving the company's health and safety objectives.
  • Ensure that periodic safety audits are conducted;
  • Develop and organize, with the help of Site Coordinators, health and safety training and guidance for all workers on-site and contractors;
  • Ensure that contractor prequalification is adequate before project start;
  • Get involved in special files with clients, government agencies, and represent Borea;
  • Support emergency response;
  • Ensure that procedures are in place in case of an incident;
  • Monitor and update accident and incident investigations in collaboration with Prevention Agents;
  • Provide necessary support to the SST Director during project qualification processes;
  • Assist the SST Director and HR Coordinator in planning human resources needs and recruiting the necessary staff to implement the SST program;
  • Perform any other related tasks assigned.
  • This position is for you if you have:
  • A bachelor's degree in health and safety or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CoSS certification required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role in health and safety within the construction or industrial sector
  • High geographical mobility
  • Knowledge of applicable provincial laws/regulations and standards in environmental and safety matters.
  • Experience working with various stakeholders (management, union/non-union staff, clients, industry associations, regulatory bodies, etc.)
  • Attention to detail and efficiency
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, autonomy, and leadership
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Excellent team management and conflict resolution skills
  • High administrative rigor
  • Advanced English language skills, both oral and written, to interact daily with contractors, suppliers, clients, partners, and colleagues outside Quebec, many of whom communicate only in English. Must participate in coordination and project management meetings with national teams, provide progress updates, and complete reports for English-speaking stakeholders.
