Your Responsibilities
Technical Leadership and Project Delivery
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of feasibility studies as well as preliminary and detailed design of bridges and railway structures.
- Take technical responsibility for assignments and ensure the quality of engineering solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
- Supervise the preparation, review, and approval of plans, estimates, technical reports, and other engineering deliverables.
- Lead design activities related to the construction of new structures, as well as the rehabilitation, strengthening, and restoration of existing concrete and steel structures.
- Ensure compliance of deliverables with applicable standards, client requirements, and internal quality standards.
Project Management and EPCM Execution
- Manage projects from conception to implementation, including scope of work, budgets, schedules, resources, changes in scope, and risk management.
- Coordinate procurement activities, tendering, evaluation of submissions, and support during construction phases.
- Participate in constructability reviews and provide technical support during on-site construction activities.
- Monitor project performance to meet technical, financial, and operational objectives.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration and Client Relations
- Serve as the primary point of contact with clients, partners, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to effectively integrate civil, structural, geotechnical, railway, and construction aspects.
- Contribute to the development of lasting client relationships by offering innovative and value-added solutions.
Business Development and Service Proposal
- Participate in the preparation of service proposals, including technical approaches, execution methodologies, effort estimates, budgets, and schedules.
- Support business development initiatives and identify new opportunities with existing and potential clients.
- Contribute to the growth of the railway infrastructure and transportation structures practice.
Mentoring and Team Development
- Provide technical leadership and serve as a mentor to engineers, designers, and junior professionals.
- Participate in resource planning, task assignment, and skill development within the team.
- Foster a work environment focused on collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or structural engineering from a recognized university.
- Master's degree in structures, MBA, or project management certification is an asset.
- Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec (OIQ) or eligible for professional practice.
- Specialized certifications and training in structural inspection and management, particularly those from the Ministry of Transportation and Sustainable Mobility (MTMD), are a significant asset.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in bridge and civil engineering design.
- Demonstrated experience in the railway sector and in the execution of complex infrastructure projects.
- Experience gained within an engineering consulting firm, in a multidisciplinary and project-oriented environment.
- Strong experience in preliminary and detailed design of new structures as well as in rehabilitation and strengthening of existing structures.
Technical Expertise
- Good knowledge of applicable design standards and codes, including CSA S6.
- Knowledge of AREMA railway standards is considered an important asset.
- Excellent understanding of approval processes, inspection practices, and regulatory requirements associated with civil engineering works.
- Knowledge of modeling and design tools such as InfraWorks, Revit, and Civil 3D is an asset.
Leadership Skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent planning, organization, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to make decisions in complex environments and meet technical, budgetary, and schedule requirements.
Communication and Collaboration
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to interact effectively with clients, project teams, and stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in French, both oral and written.
