Your area of expertise A *Commercial Director in a dealership supervises and manages the financial and insurance operations of the dealership. He works closely with customers to propose financing options, ensure credit approvals, and contribute to the finalization of vehicle sales. His role involves creating and presenting financing formulas, selling insurance products, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards. He also collaborates with sales teams to optimize the dealership's profitability by offering competitive financing terms and managing relationships with lenders. Strong customer service, organizational, and negotiation skills are essential for this position.
What excites you day-to-day?
- Explain and demonstrate financial options to customers
- Deal directly with lenders and financial institutions
- Prepare and document all documentation for final delivery
- Meet and exceed sales targets by selling extended products such as protection packages, extended warranties, life, accident, and illness insurance, and environmental protection packages
- Adhere to a professional ethics standard and show respect for customers
- Know provincial regulations regarding finance and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
- Interact with relevant services
- Structure transactions according to the directives of lenders and dealerships
- Conclude transactions accurately
- Never misrepresent equipment
- Conduct a credit interview and prepare a credit application
- Verify the accuracy of all information on the credit application and submit it to the lender
- Preserve the confidentiality of customer information
- Sell credit insurance and service contracts
- Maintain good relationships with lenders
- Keep up-to-date with currently used programs and gain practical knowledge
- Analyze solvency reports, be able to recognize a conventional transaction and treat it accordingly
- Keep dead files for inactive transactions
- Overcome objections from potential customers
What are the must-haves?
- 3 to 5 years of experience in the automotive sector
- Excellent understanding of sales, finance, and management
- Experience and working relationships with financial institutions
- Proven performance against set objectives
- Excellent oral, written, and listening skills
- Judgment and decision-making ability: ability to evaluate the costs and benefits of potential actions and choose the appropriate path
- Identify performance measures and actions to improve or correct performance
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, email, and internet software
- Ability to read, understand, and calculate banking data such as discounts, interest rates, percentages, and commissions, etc.
- Ability to prioritize to use time effectively and establish action plans to achieve commercial objectives
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset for this position, as it may be necessary to communicate in both languages.
