The Warehouse Associate is responsible for storing merchandise on shelves, organizing the sales area to create a pleasant and safe shopping environment, and providing customer service as needed. Most associates in this position must also operate retractable or forklift trucks and lift trucks to move merchandise from the shelves to the sales area. The Warehouse Associate prepares the orders assigned to them and packages them carefully to ensure the products are not damaged, then labels them accurately and places them in the designated storage areas.
Main Responsibilities: Handling Merchandise
Store merchandise on shelves to maintain 100% stock levels.
Perform depalletizing and shelving of merchandise according to instructions.
Handle merchandising of new items and promotions.
Maintain aisles to keep them clean and shopping-friendly, ensuring merchandise is accessible and presented attractively.
Maintain and organize upper shelves (e.g., merchandise alignment).
Communicate with other Warehouse team members to ensure all products are stored in the correct locations.
Ensure Customer Satisfaction
Follow the Home Depot Customer Service Model: Pass the Action (greet the customer, build a connection, and end with a thank you).
Ask open-ended questions about customers' projects as needed to determine their level of expertise and needs.
Maintain Safety and Integrity
Move merchandise safely from the temporary storage area to the upper shelves, or lower merchandise from the upper shelves using the appropriate equipment.
Ensure customers can move freely and safely through the aisles.
Follow all safety and loss prevention policies and procedures.

Bending, stooping, stretching, and turning; lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items.
Climbing Ladders: Ability to climb a ladder up to a height of 3.5 to 5 m (12 to 16 ft) to remove or store merchandise.
Work Conditions:
Variable schedule, including night shifts and may include evening and weekend shifts.
The warehouse may be dusty and noisy.
Forklift trucks produce gas emissions.
Doors are often open, which can cause air currents and temperature changes inside.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience: One or two years of experience in the retail or distribution sector, an asset.

Other Requirements: Experience operating retractable or forklift trucks and lift trucks, an asset.
