As an electrical/mechanical estimator working within Pomerleau's Civil & Infrastructure division, you will support the growth of new and ongoing projects and challenge industry standards through your expertise and knowledge of the trade. Working on large-scale construction projects - ranging from $1.5 million to over $1 billion - you will work closely with our proposal team and various client groups to obtain bids and ensure project success.
What you will do
- Perform quantitative evaluation of materials and labor for major works;
- Prepare quantity summaries based on plans and bids, sorting by standardized sections and trades;
- Participate in the selection of concepts, equipment types, and suppliers;
- Attend coordination meetings, site visits, and evaluate the difficulty of projects to estimate;
- Research material or subcontractor prices after analyzing bid documents;
- Verify that amounts received from suppliers and subcontractors comply with bid documents.
- Participate in updating the subcontractor and supplier database, and propose alternatives to reduce construction costs.
- This position is for you if you have
- A technical degree or Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or equivalent experience;
- Strong technical knowledge in mechanical and electrical;
- Strong skills in reading plans and bids;
- Versatility and excellent analytical skills;
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written;
