Occasional Flight Regulator 1 Year and More - Intern or Grade 1

The Government Aviation Service (SAG) of the Ministry of Transportation and Sustainable Mobility (MTMD) operates a diverse fleet of aircraft to offer specialized services and intervene in emergency situations. In close collaboration with its partners, the SAG carries out its missions across the entire territory of Quebec and, when required, at the national and international level.

The SAG provides its partners and clients with aerial services according to their specific needs, including:

• Forest fire fighting in Quebec, Canada, and around the world, in collaboration with the Forest Protection Service;
• Search and rescue missions, in collaboration with the Sûreté du Québec;
• Air medical transports, including aeromedical evacuations and scheduled medical flights that allow the evacuation or transfer of patients in remote areas, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Services;
• Aircraft chartering to ensure the transport of people and goods, specifically the movements of ministerial team members in the exercise of their functions.

To accomplish its mission, the SAG relies on over 250 people and has 22 aircraft.

The Challenges We Offer You:

The Air Operations Directorate (DAAér) dynamically orchestrates the operational aspect to accomplish the three essential missions of the SAG. Flight regulators play a crucial role in guiding their colleagues through these missions. The challenges associated with this position revolve around four strategic axes:

• Weather data management;
• Flight plan analysis and optimization;
• Operational conditions management, and;
• Emergency situation management.
• In this role, the person holding the position must:
• Analyze and interpret weather conditions to ensure flight safety and efficiency;
• Determine the most appropriate routes and aircraft according to operational conditions;
• Continuously monitor weather conditions and communicate relevant information to crews;
• Authorize, if necessary, modifications, delays, or cancellations of flights;
• Develop, analyze, and optimize flight plans in accordance with regulatory and operational requirements;
• Ensure compliance with operational procedures and applicable regulations, including those related to the transport of dangerous goods;
• Coordinate the necessary operations for the smooth conduct of flights, such as refueling, de-icing, and runway maintenance;
• Intervene as the first responder in emergency situations and coordinate the required actions;
• Act as a resource person for partners and crews, ensure operational communications, and ensure crew compliance.

• Annual Salary:
• Intern Grade: $49,717 to $52,785 according to experience*
• Grade 1: $53,850 to $75,557 according to experience*
• This remuneration corresponds to a treatment scale equivalent to one week of work of 40 hours. The person holding the position may be called to work on call.
• Additional amounts may be added to the base remuneration:
• Performance bonuses based on work schedule (evening, on call, night, etc.);
• A 2% treatment rate bonus for flight regulators;
• A 2% treatment rate bonus in connection with the Canadian Aviation Regulations.

The scale will be determined at hiring based on the candidate's experience.

• The Person Sought Must Meet the Position Requirements:

For the Intern Grade

• Hold a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) in flight regulation recognized by the competent authority, an equivalency certificate from studies recognized by the competent authority, or have completed a basic flight regulation training course deemed equivalent;
• Have passed the mandatory general exams required by the competent federal authority;
• Have 5 years of relevant experience as a flight regulator;
• Possess Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status, or a work permit issued by the competent federal authority to occupy a position in the Quebec public service;
• Have appropriate French language skills for the functions.
• For Grade 1:

Nomination Condition

• Hold a restricted radio operator certificate issued by the competent federal authority.
