Reporting to the Director, Technology Infrastructure – North America, the Systems Administrator, operationally oriented, is responsible for the daily management, stability, and performance of IT environments, both cloud-based and on-premises. The incumbent acts as an operational pillar within the team, ensuring the smooth functioning of systems, efficient management of incidents, requests, and changes, as well as proactive monitoring of environments. Practical expertise in Microsoft Azure is essential, particularly in a production exploitation context, including the management of resources, services, identities, and security mechanisms. The role also includes occasional participation in continuous improvement initiatives, automation, and modernization of technological infrastructures.
THE CHALLENGES WE HAVE FOR YOU
Operations and Exploitation
- Ensure the daily operation of Microsoft Azure, Entra ID, Office 365, and Windows Server environments;
- Manage incidents, service requests, and changes related to systems;
- Perform proactive system monitoring (monitoring, alerts, performance);
- Apply updates, patches, and scheduled maintenance;
- Ensure the availability, stability, and continuity of IT services.
- Azure Environment Management
- Administer and manage Azure resources (virtual machines, networks, storage, etc.);
- Optimize Azure environments in terms of performance, availability, and costs;
- Ensure the proper functioning of cloud-based services in production;
- Participate in tracking and optimizing Azure configurations.
- Access and Security Management
- Manage identities and access (Entra ID, MFA, conditional access);
- Apply security and compliance policies;
- Identify, analyze, and correct operational vulnerabilities;
- Ensure continuous monitoring of environments.
- Advanced Technical Support
- Act as an escalation point for complex incidents;
- Diagnose and resolve system issues;
- Collaborate with support, infrastructure, and other IT teams.
- Automation and Continuous Improvement
- Maintain and enhance existing PowerShell scripts;
- Automate recurring administrative tasks;
- Propose improvements to increase operational stability and efficiency.
- Project Participation
- Contribute to IT projects (deployments, migrations, improvements);
- Participate in the integration of new solutions;
- Support project teams as needed.
- Documentation
- Document operational procedures and environments;
- Keep technical documentation up-to-date;
- Ensure knowledge transfer within the team.
- THE SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Your background
- College diploma in information technology or related field;
- Microsoft certifications or equivalent (asset).
Your professional experience
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in systems administration;
- Experience in the operation of Microsoft Azure environments in production;
- Experience in a hybrid environment (cloud and on-premises).
Your knowledge
- Solid practical experience with Microsoft Azure (resource management, virtualization, networking, storage, security);
- Good mastery of Entra ID, Office 365, and Windows Server;
- Knowledge of Active Directory, GPO, Intune;
- Experience in PowerShell scripting (automation, administration);
- Understanding of networking, security, and access management concepts;
- Experience in monitoring and operating IT environments;
- Required English level – Advanced (written and spoken exchanges with colleagues across North America and technical environments and documentation in part in English).
Your job details
- Position based in Drummondville, but possibility to work from the Sherbrooke site up to 4 days / week;
- Occasional travel to our sites in North America as part of integration projects;
- Occasional interventions outside normal working hours for maintenance operations or critical projects.
