About the Position

We are looking for an experienced, strategic, and mobilizing engineering director to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team. At the heart of our activities lies the development of cutting-edge equipment and test solutions for the drone and aerospace industries.

The ideal candidate is an inspiring leader capable of bridging high-level research and development with industrializable product development. You will guide the team in implementing rigorous engineering methodologies, ensure a smooth transition of products to manufacturing, and foster a collaborative culture. Working closely with the executive team and other directors, you will align technical roadmaps with business objectives while maximizing your team's performance.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership and Execution

• Provide high-level technical guidance for the development of complex systems, test equipment, and integrated software and microcontroller systems.
• Establish and enforce rigorous engineering methodologies, including comprehensive technical documentation, robust calibration protocols, and industry standard compliance.
• Supervise the stable transition of products from the R&D lab to manufacturing, actively reducing risks related to production, calibration, and system stability.
• Anticipate technical challenges through a systemic vision, ensuring that technical specifications and product performance are always accurate and supported by rigorous data.

Team Leadership and Development

• Lead, mentor, and grow a diverse engineering team, with a strategic emphasis on recruiting and developing senior talent to enhance efficiency and innovation.
• Promote a collaborative engineering culture that eliminates silos between departments and fosters open and constructive exchanges.
• Empower team leads and individual contributors to succeed while maintaining an appropriate level of supervision and accountability.

Strategic Alignment and Communication

• Serve as a strategic partner to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to ensure constant alignment on strategic priorities, resources, and engineering roadmaps.
• Foster clear and concise communication within the department to ensure that team meetings and technical discussions are focused, efficient, and results-oriented.
• Summarize complex technical issues in clear summaries for the executive team to facilitate data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 15 years of engineering experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership, director, or engineering management role.
• Technical Background: Strong multidisciplinary experience in electronics, software development, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing. Excellent understanding of the hardware product development cycle.
• Industry Knowledge: Experience in the drone, aerospace, or test equipment industries is highly desirable. Knowledge of load cells, aerodynamics, and dynamic and fatigue testing is a significant asset.
• Leadership: Demonstrated experience in building and developing high-performing teams, promoting accountability, and prioritizing organizational success.
• Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical skills and a proactive, data-driven approach to solving technical and operational challenges.
• Authorized to work in Canada.
• Bilingual French-English is highly desired.
• Pay: $120,000.00-$170,000.00 per year
